Los Gatos-based Amalfi Semiconductor is a fabless semiconductor company specializing in cost-effective, high-performance CMOS RF and mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs). The company’s proprietary CMOS-based architecture, AdaptiveRFTM, has proven to increase the battery life of cellular handsets while decreasing the size and cost of front-end cellular hand set designs.
Experiencing rapid growth and outgrowing use of Excel and QuickBooks to track its manufacturing and finances, the company chose Tensoft to implement Microsoft Dynamics GP, Tensoft Fabless Semiconductor Manufacturing (FSM) and Tensoft High Tech Dashboard (HTD) to equip the company for a fast-paced future.
Using this integrated ERP and supply chain system, the company has visibility into its manufacturing operations and variance analysis. “With Tensoft FSM, for the first time, I’ve been able to really explain what’s causing these variances and why,” says Joe Whitty, Amalfi’s Corporate Controller. “I’m able to use FSM to parse and show detailed support of what’s actually hitting the general ledger in terms of variances. That’s been very helpful for me and our CEO.”
“We’re a growing company and as sales grow and our operations team grows, we also need to have visibility into how to meet the needs of our customers, and this helps us. Essentially, Tensoft HTD is a ‘bolt-on tool’ provided by Tensoft that enables various billings, backlog, and bookings information. There’s a web interface and also an auto e-mail. Our executives – including our CEO – get this email. They’re able to log in and get what our bookings to-date are, what we’re billing and what kind of future backlog we have.”
